The Board’s responsibility extends beyond individual meetings or decisions. Directors are entrusted with helping ensure Amiskwaciy Cultural Society remains strong, accountable and sustainable for the children and families it serves.
The Board provides oversight in several key areas.
Strategic Direction
Establishing long-term priorities and monitoring progress toward organizational goals.
Financial Stewardship
Approving budgets, reviewing financial performance and ensuring appropriate safeguards are in place to protect organizational resources.
Risk Oversight
Ensuring significant risks affecting the Society’s people, programs, finances, reputation, cultural integrity and sustainability are appropriately identified and managed.
Executive Leadership
Hiring, supporting and evaluating the Executive Director and ensuring there is clear accountability between governance and administration.
Governance & Policy
Maintaining strong Bylaws, governance policies, ethical standards and effective Board practices.
Organizational Sustainability
Looking beyond immediate needs to support the continued stability, relevance and growth of the Society.
